vines on house

Asked March 3, 2013, 10:13 PM EST

I would like to grow a vine along the side of my house. I have been reading that even when using a trellice vines can get under the siding and cause damage. I was originally considering a wisteria but it sounds as though it is quite aggressive. It there any type of a vine that would be safe to grow but still provide coverage along a wall?

Some vines are more aggressive than others but all can be controlled by either training or pruning. Wisteria is a good choice and hasn't given me a problem and Boston Ivy uses an epoxy to adhere to surfaces. Boston Ivy grows to 40'+ doesn't grow under siding but will go under gutters. Here is a link to other possibilities.
