Rubber plant

Asked March 3, 2013, 12:44 PM EST

My rubber plant is losing bottom leaves at an alarming rate. It sits near a window in a large pot and the soil is kept moist. What could be happening?

Low light conditions and cold temperatures can cause rubber plants to drop their leaves. The past few weeks have been cool and cloudy. You might try cutting the water back a little, providing the plant with some supplemental light, and turning up a heat a bit at night. The leaves will probably not regenerate.
