Cat Tail problem

Asked February 20, 2013, 1:07 PM EST

I have a very large irrigation pond which is being over run with cat tails. I've tried burning them, but they come back with a vengence! How do I kill these plants without harming the water?

Consider using Rodeo herbicide. It is the aquatic version of Roundup; glyphosate the active ingredient. Spray on cattails when they are actively growing; it helps to add a non-ionic surfactant to help it cover the cattail leaves. Read Rodeo label before purchase and before use; follow label directions. There is no restriction on using Rodeo-treated water for irrigation.
