I am contemplating planting replacement evergreens for some that blew down.

What are advantages or disadvantages of planting smaller vs larger trees?

Can you recommend evergreen trees that are xeric?

Thank you

Smaller trees are less expensive, easier to plant, easier to take care of after planting, re-establish in the yard MUCH quicker, and are less suseptable to disease and insect pressure in the establishment years. By far the most xeric evergreen trees are rocky mountain Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum) and pinyon pine (Pinus edulus). Another good option is ponderosa pine, (Pinus ponderosa).
