Sending plants in the US

Asked December 12, 2012, 10:13 PM EST

I want to send some spider plant clippings to my family on the east coast. Are there any restrictions, regulations, or tips you can give me about this? I can't find anything online.

Hello and thanks for your question. You are probably OK. It will depend upon the state you are mailing to, so you might check the web specifically mentioning the state to see if there are any restrictions on importing plant materials from other parts of the US. When you send, you can wrap the base of the cuttings loosely in damp paper towels if you wish and put them in an unsealed plastic bag. Don't seal the bag or the clippings might mold before they arrive. And of course, specify a quick delivery time if possible. Linda
