Insectside question #938458

Asked July 07, 2026, 8:59 PM EDT

Feeling sad. I sprayed Captain Jacks Deadbug on my vegetable garden yesterday morning and everything was shaded for 3hrs after spraying. Unfortunately the leaves are brown and curly on the tomatoes plants. Will they rebound or are they done for? The potato plants look similar. Thank you

Expert Response

It’s hard to say without seeing the extent of the damage. What were you spraying for?

The label on container lists the insects that Spinosad (bacillus thuringiensis) is effective on. There are a lot of insects out there that are beneficial so even though this is considered organic it is not harmless. Also, timing is everything. Bt is effective on potato beetle larvae but not so much on the adults.

Your plants are probably suffering from heat as well as the spraying. I would keep them well watered and see how they recover.
