Turf issue #913969

Asked August 14, 2025, 8:30 AM EDT

Attached is a photo of an area of turf that has turned yellowish-brown over the last 4 weeks. What is it or what additional information do you need to determine the cause. Also, what is the solution to the problem? Thank you in advance!

Larimer County Colorado

Expert Response

Hi Susan,

[You must oversee multiple properties?]

This looks like an herbicide misapplication. Or perhaps something was applied to the driveway and then sprayed off into the grass?

Thank you.  I thought the same thing at first, but there has been no application in about a month (TruGreen will be doing an application next week.  It is also in the middle of the grass and only on that one side of the shared driveway.

Could it be a fungus?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Susan,

It really doesn't look like a disease.

I suspect the homeowners don't do lawn care, but could this have been an application done by a well-intentioned homeowner?
