Old root system? #913910

Asked August 13, 2025, 3:17 PM EDT

We had a large maple tree cut down, stump removed, about one year ago. I noticed a couple of weeks ago several dark green strips radiating from the old tree's location. They look the way I would imagine an underground root system would look. Question 1: Is my suspicion correct that there are roots under these green patches? Question 2: If they are roots close to the surface of the lawn, should I have them dug up before we have the lawn double seeded this fall?
