Normally, my first recommendation is to do a soil test so you know how to amend your soil for a lawn. However, based on your photos and the fact that you said that the soil is quite sandy, you may want to consider having top soil or loam added first and then do a soil test to see if any additional amendment is necessary. Adding top soil will likely be a big job so working with a landscaper might be warranted. I've attached a link to the NH Landscape Association.
