hello, can you help with this tree? I don’t know what is happening with the trunk. The leaves have little dots eaten out of them. But I am quite concerned about the trunk. Is there anything we can do to help it? Is it an elm? Thank you.

The spots eaten out of the leaves is likely nothing to worry about. I would, however, having someone come out to take a look at the trunk. A certified arborist would be best, as they would be able to make the best recommendation for the health of the tree and the safety of those around it.
Arborists are certified through the International Society of Arboriculture, or ISA. They maintain a website that makes it easy to find a professional:
