How to remove Knotweed #880937

I live on the water near Middle River MD and have a stand of ironweed at water’s edge that I would like to remove. What is the safest way to remove it without harming the Bay and nearby native pollinator gardens.

I meant to refer to Knotweed, not Ironweed!

Hello...below is our website on Japanese knotweed. The attachment from Penn State contains a very good description on how to control this weed especially when it is near water.
