What is happening? #880925

I have gloriosa daisies, for three years. This year they came to a head, but sparatically bloomed. What could be the problem?

This web page lists problems your plants could have, but none of the descriptions seem to fit.

Is it possible that something or someone is pulling/eating the petals? The plants look healthy otherwise. What is left looks more like the start of a seed pod that develops afer blooming.

Thank you for the response, unfortunately..they never put out blooms for critters to eat. There are a few that have bloomed. It just stumps me.

Hi Tammie,

The first photo shows flowers with distorted petals. I think this is aster yellows, a disease spread by leaf hoppers. It can’t be cured.

You should remove the plants and dispose of them.

Here’s information on aster yellows:

Sorry for the bad news. Thanks.
