moving hostas and cuttung down clematis #880881

when can I safely transplant hosta plants and maybe split some gotten too big,not sure how to d0, Also had climbing clematis that were lovely do I cut off the no longer blooming flowers now or cut whole plant now or after frost I want it back next spring,

The best time to transplant hostas is the spring.  The U of Mn has prepared a worksheet on hostas that includes information on transplanting and division.  Here it is - https://extension.umn.edu/flowers/growing-hostas-minnesota

Don't cut off your clematis flowers now.  There are three. types of clematis, and they are pruned at different times, depending on whether the blooms are on old or new wood.  If you know the variety, you can look that up to see the best pruning time.  If not, the following article should be helpful:
