Pepperomia house plant #880828

Asked August 09, 2024, 11:41 AM EDT

I noticed this on the leaves of my otherwise healthy 50+ year old pepperomia. It seems healthy and bloomed ( if that's what you can call it) more profusely than ever this year. Should I be concerned?

Expert Response

Hi Tim,

While the photos you sent are great, it's difficult to diagnose a plant problem without examining the plant.

From what I can see, it appears your plant may be infested with some type of pest, most likely spider mites. Here's some information on controlling them:

If you want an accurate diagnosis, I suggest submitting a sample to Ohio State's Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic. Information on the clinic and how to submit samples is at https://ppdc.osu.edu/home .

Your plant looks otherwise happy and healthy!
