How to keep my ferns alive throughout the winter #880688

Asked August 08, 2024, 11:07 AM EDT

Good morning! Im wondering about how to keep my ferns alive throughout the winter? These are my favorite plant and each late spring/summer I purchase them. I attempt to keep them alive and well throughout the winter but usually the ends of the leaves turn brown, dry up and dye. Anyway to keep them looking like they do now all throughout the winter months?

Thank you!

Expert Response

Good Afternoon,
Give your fern a good prune.  Allow the plant to dry out before bringing it indoors.  Choose a cool location such as a basement or garage to store the plant. The plant will be dormant for the season and will only need watering once a month.
