I am not sure if my canning process for jam is properly sealed. It came out of the water bath already looking sealed and there was no pop. #880542

I am canning jam. I put it in the boiling water bath for 10 mins. When I removed the jars the lids already appeared to be depressed and thus there was no pop. Is this safe? If I need to re-seal, how do I submerge in boiling water without the glass shattering?

Expert Response
Take the rings off, look across the top of the lid surface, if you can see a concave impression where the pop button is, then the jars have sealed. If the lids have not sealed, then either reprocess again using new lids or place the jam in the freezer, just replace the lid with a plastic lid indicated for freezing applications.
