Time to transplant shrubs #880472

Asked August 06, 2024, 9:59 PM EDT

I have Kodiak Orange Diervilla and Weigela that got really big this summer; too close together. Can I transplant them now? Or when?

I would wait until the temps cool a little bit.  September is a good time to transplant.  When you do, trim them back and I would use a root starter to give them a little boost-once when transplanting.  Be sure to water well until it gets too cold.

Also another point is that every thing grew super well this year because of the remains.  Maybe just trimming the shrubs back will be enough.  Think about the height and width from the tags and leave room between,  if they are too close, definitely move them.

Good luck!
