Hello, I have two ash trees on the south side of my home that seeming to be dying. I am unsure of the age of each tree. The dying leaves are brown and firm. I haven’t seen any thickening or insect bites on the leaves before they die. I have not seen any beetles on them or small holes in the truck where I can see up to about 7 feet off the ground. The tree on the west seems worse than the tree on the east. These are great shade trees and I am hoping they can be saved. I don’t routinely water them because I assumed the roots would be deep enough for them to draw from the ground water. I have attached photos of the trees.

Thank you for your question. This species needs a lot of water, since it grows best near streams and lakes. If the browning is on the west, that's the hottest part of the tree. Here are some other suggestions on its care: https://nfs.unl.edu/publications/ash-trees-diseases
You might consider hiring a certified arborist to examine the tree and provide a prognosis. https://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/findanarborist
