When are the safe times to prune oak trees in St.Louis Park? I had always thought late Winter was the best time. Thanks so much! Pam Teierson

Late winter is the best time. But oaks must be pruned before the insects which vector oak wilt are active, and their activity is weather-dependent. These insects were active much earlier this year, and the DNR recommended pruning stop on March 1:

I will ask Rainbow to schedule my 2025 oak pruning for late January/early February this year.
