Hi, What is the weed/plant in the pictures please? Is it harmless or dangerous? Ok to cut down or need to let it grow? Thanks!

Expert Response

This looks like perennial sow thistle Sonchus arvensis.  I have never seen one this tall though.  Is it growing in ultra rich soil such as an old manure pile?  Does it have a yellow flower?

Hi,

Area is not an old manure pile.  Mostly shade area.  No flowers or blooms yet.  They look like the very top would bloom.  Thanks

If this is perennial sow thistle, it is not harmful but you might want to remove it. It is not native and considered to be a weed.
