Why do my oak leaves look like this? #880289
Asked August 05, 2024, 3:15 PM EDT
These leaves are from my 4 year-old swamp white oak tree. Many of the leaves appear healthy but several are partly brown as you see in the picture. Does this signify a disease? I know it's NOT from lack of water: we've had lots of rain this season and during dry periods I've made sure the tree is watered.

I can't be sure from a photo, but my first guess would be anthracnose:

My second guess would be tar spot, which is more common on maples:

In either case, if the tree looks healthy and only a few leaves are affected, there is little reason for concern.
