The builder planted two young trees (honey locust and maple) in the yard of our new home in the fall of 2023. They are staked to the ground. How long should I wait before removing the stakes?

Expert Response
Hi Ted,
Gently wiggle the tree back and forth. If you don't see significant heaving/moving of the soil, you can remove the stakes. The general recommendation is to only leave them on for six months and no longer than a year.
It's best to remove by this fall at the latest.
