Wondering what might be happening with our magnolia #880254

Hi,
We have a columnar magnolia that we planted about 18 months ago that has had something attacking it this year (a honeysuckle about 6 feet away had aphid issues earlier this year but is healthy). We haven’t been able to spot what the pest might be in the magnolias case, but it does look like the leaves are consistently being eaten, and there are several that have browned. Any help that you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, the plant is on the west side of the house.
Best,

Thank you for your question.
There could be some minor leaf spot fungi present and possibly some leaf scorch. You should remove any damaged leaves. You may want to consider applying a fungicide to also help prevent any further fungal infection.
Ensure there is good air circulation, don't use overhead watering, and consider some shade protection during the most intense sun periods.
It also appears that there has been some caterpillar leaf damage. Also could be slug/snail damage if you've seen any slime trails.
Overall the magnolia looks to be in good shape.
