Copper Sulfate to control Cedar Apple Rust #880185

Asked August 04, 2024, 9:09 PM EDT

Your artical on Cedar Apple Rust contains conflicting and confusing information... it states "There are no fungicides available to home gardeners that can be used on trees that produce fruit that will be eaten by people." But also states "Fungicides with the active ingredient Myclobutanil are most effective in preventing rust. Copper and sulfur products can be used as well." As a graduate of Horticulture Science at the University of Minnesota I know that copper and sulfate are considered safe and organic. Copper Sulfate is commonly recommened for prevention and control of fungal diseases of fruit trees.
