Can you give me as close to an exact location as you can? If Possible it might be easier to use our web form. http://www.alaskapestreporter.org. The web form will let you put a pin on a map for the location. Also if you have pictures that will help and can be uploaded on that form. There is a native species that is often mistaken for vetch and if I can rule that out with pictures that will help save them some time and money. Get pictures of the leaves and stems of the vetch. The Kenai Watershed Forum and Kenai Soil and Water Conservation District both do work on invasive species in the area, and will check it out.
Hello, Yes I am positive it is Bird Vetch. We had a problem with it once in the same spot a few years ago when I was able to contact the State of Ak Water and Soil Conservation office which was located in Soldotna. A state employee came out and removed the vetch for several years in a row, then apparently it stopped and the office is not here anymore? I was not able to find it if it is. And yes, I will take an image and complete the form. The patch is located almost to the end of the straight, paved portion of Sports Lake road, on the left. If you get to cluster mail boxes, you’ve gone too far. Thank you so much! Feel free to contact me directly if you would like.
