Odd grass growth #880037

Hello. We have a couple of patches of odd-looking grass in our yard that have persisted for several years. It's lighter green than the surrounding grass with wispier, less straight blades--it's almost like longer moss. We dug one of the patches up a few years ago and reseeded, and the grass did fine at first but then turned into this odd stuff again. I'm attaching several photos of the affected areas, one of which is a closeup showing the boundary between the normal grass and the odd stuff. Any idea what this is or how we can get rid of it? Thanks.

The grass in question is probably creeping bentgrass.
