Lanterfly on maple trees #879975

Asked August 02, 2024, 7:42 PM EDT

I have laternflies on my maple tree. What insecticides can be used to kill them? I have used soap and water solutions, Neem oil, and other natural products but those do not appear to kill them. Thanks for your advise. Elmer

Expert Response

The good news is you don't need to spray them at all.
They are going to be a nuisance insect for a while like the brown marmorated stinkbug was in the early 2000's, but they are not hurting our trees and insecticide use is not recommended, nor useful as they are constantly on the move.
