Hi! Would you please look at these photos and tell me what is going on with my cucumbers? I have been spraying them with daconil and neem but it doesn't seem to be helping. Thank you.

Expert Response
There are many different foliar diseases affecting cucumber in Michigan that could be causing the symptoms in your photos. The rainy and humid weather we have been having in most of the state is causing an increase in the incidence of these kind of foliar diseases in Michigan. Reducing the amount of moisture that reaches the leaves and especially the amount of moisture that is on the leaves in the evening or early morning, can help. Try not to we the leaves during irrigation or other gardening activities. Fungicides will only work if the cause of the disease is not bacterial. Fungicides also will not cure the disease from already affected portions of the plant. In other words, they can protect new foliage and/or fruits, but will not protect foliage where the disease is already present. If you are certain that the fungicide applications have been ineffective, then you might consider some of the bacterial diseases that can cause similar symptoms. I have attached a guide to cucumber diseases in Michigan to help you. The only way to know for certain what species you are dealing with, would be to submit a sample to the MSU Plant and Pest Diagnostic Laboratory. You can learn more about this service on the lab's website here: pestid.msu.edu.
