Green Bean Pest #879849

Asked August 02, 2024, 8:25 AM EDT

It looks like something is chewing the lower branches off my green bean plants. I've had this problem for the past three years. I put down diatomaceous earth twice. Sprayed insecticide soap at the bottom of the plants. It doesn't happen until the plants are full grown and producing. In the photos you can see they are healthy. The branches you see on the ground have been chewed.

Expert Response

This looks more like the work of rodents than insects. You might want to try a repellant spray for rodents and see if that prevents the damage from continuing.
