Wind Blown Pine #879807

Asked August 01, 2024, 5:50 PM EDT

Attached is a photo of a pine that was bent over by wind yesterday. Do you think I can save it and if so what do you suggest? I can get a guy with a big backhoe to work on it. I also see a lot of dead branches on the backside that I had not noticed before. Maybe it's time to cut it up. Please advise. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your question and picture of your tree. It appears that it is Colorado blue spruce. If you want to save it, I would call a certified arborist in your area. Here is a list for you:

To save your tree, you will need to upright it without disturbing any roots or soil around it. Your tree may be too large to straighten upright:

Colorado blue spruce is very susceptible to diseases including needle cast disease caused by a fungus. It certainly looks like your tree is infected since it starts from the ground and moves up the spruce tree. I have had personal experience with this and have trimmed the tree from the base on up.

Good luck with your tree and hope you find a solution.
