Water damage and mold testing in rented apartment #879758

My apartment was flooded from a leak in the irrigation system. I was told the leak was happening for some time before the major flooding occurred. I am concerned about mold although there are no outward signs. The flooding occurred in the basement area of the apartment. I believe I have a mold sensitivity from a previous residence in California. As I was moving out due to the sale of the home, a company testing for mold told me it was at a dangerous level. I had significant health problems. They gradually improved with the move. I would like to test for mold in the walls where the leak was occurring. And also mold in the air. I don’t know how to get my management company to do this.

Hi Sancy,
I recommend that you contact the Oregon Health Authority - Environmental Public Health Department. The toxicologists there will take calls<personal data hidden>) and can provide excellent information about healthy homes/mold, etc. You can also go to their website directory and email one of the toxicologists directly: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HEALTHYENVIRONMENTS/Pages/Program-Information.aspx
