Jersey Tiger Moth??? #879747

Asked August 01, 2024, 1:35 PM EDT

I found this moth today and the little bit of research I found online was that it is a Jersey Tiger Moth but they are listed as a sort of rare moth found in the UK. I have it captured in a cup right now in my office but I really don't want it to die, especially if it's rare and should be studied/analyzed/captured/saved. Please advise ASAP. Thank you.

The moth in your photo appears to be from the apantesis family. It can be found in the US. Below is a link with information on this species.
