Hello! I found this insect on my sweet corn, and have so far narrowed it down to some type of stink bug nymph. I'm hoping to get an id and whether it is a garden friend or foe

I agree with you -- this appears to be a stink bug nymph. My best guess is it's a Southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula.
