Turf Disease #879701

Asked August 01, 2024, 10:03 AM EDT

Hello, Was wondering if someone in your department does lawn/turf consultations? I’m experiencing a lot of disease and fungus in my lawn year over a year and I was wondering why.

Expert Response

Good Morning Ashley,

Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.

Please click on the following link about cool season turf grass (usually lawn grass) and the lawn care calendar: https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/lawn-care-calendar  This discusses proper care of your lawn year around.

We are volunteer Extension Master Gardeners who answer questions online. We do not do home visits.  You might consider hiring a turf lawn specialist to advise you on your lawn fungus.

As an alternative, you might consider: https://extension.umn.edu/lawns-and-landscapes/planting-and-maintaining-fine-fescue-lawn

Turf grass lawns are a sterile environment for pollinators. You might consider installing a bee lawn: https://extension.umn.edu/landscape-design/planting-and-maintaining-bee-lawn

Good Luck!
