fig tree winter protection #879684

Hello, I have a Chicago Hardy fig tree, located in Fountain MI, 15 miles east of Ludington. I have read about winter protection and would like your recommendation. plastic yes/no? 5 gal bucket on top yes/no? burlap, insulation, tarp? thank you very much!

Hi Joe,

There are many different ways to protect your fig. The problem with plastic is captured moisture.  A breathable fabric wrap is an important part of the wrap, but some use some non-breathable materials as part of the process.
