Pine Trees #879670

Asked July 31, 2024, 10:07 PM EDT

Our pine trees our dying. We have three dead right now and we have a total of 15 pines on our property. We have been told that a beetle has killed our trees and once they kill one, they will migrate to the next set of roots and kill the trees. Please, if you can, come and test our trees and/or suggest a way that we can prevent the rest of our trees from dying. We also need someone to fall these dead trees. Thank you.

Expert Response

Good evening, Linda,

I am wondering who told you have a beetle? I would suggest contacting a certified arborist. A properly trained and certified arborist could answer your questions and develop a treatment plan for your pine trees. Your ANR (Ag and Natural Resources) educator could help you find an arborist. I have also included an OSU fact sheet on how to pick an arborist.

The Master Gardener experts that answer these questions are located all over the state and are assigned questions on a random basis. I am located in Fayette County. I cannot come look at your trees. That is why I suggest contacting your ANR Extension Educator or a certified arborist.
