I live in Arvada. I have an area approx. 4 by 8 feet. It gets 3 to 4 hours of sun in the morning before in is shaded by a fence. I want to replant with varying perennials full of color all seasons that attracts pollinators and hummingbirds. I would like the backdrop next to the fence to be green all year long. Would a privet keep its leaves or should I choose something else. Also, where can I get plant ideas. Thankyou

Dear Linda,
Thank you for contacting us with your questions. I personally do not have any experience with Privet, but the Lodense privet (Ligustrum vulgare) is a recommended plant for Colorado. In prolonged periods of cold weather, privet leaves will turn brown.
The following two articles have some recommendations for shrubs and evergreens.

In terms of planting for pollinators, I would recommend sticking to native plants, as they have evolved with our native pollinators and are most beneficial.
Here's an article that will give you some suggestions.
