I had a plane tree planted in April of this year and recently noticed areas of peeling bark on its truck.
Should I be concerned? Too, during the winter should I wrap the truck; it's only about 2" in diameter?

One of the ornamental characters of planetrees are bark that peels and flakes so presumably that is what you are seeing and it is completely normal. However, if there is a wound to the trunk from say, a lawn mower, a weed whacker or even some sort of crack caused by sun, that would not be normal. Take a couple of photos and send them to us.
