Can you identify this insect? #879581

I found this on an aster in our front garden. I’ve never seen it before and can’t find anything like it on insect identification websites. Can you help? I’m not worried about damage — it’s just sitting there, as far as I can tell.

This appears to be a skin shed by a cicada or similar insect. See this site:
