Lemon tree won’t put on any growth and seems stressed #879571

Asked July 31, 2024, 11:31 AM EDT

Hi there, My wife and I are trying to get our lemon tree to grow to no avail. It’s a Meyer lemon, and has been outside in full sun with consistent, deep watering all summer. The leaves are a sickly looking green, and seem somewhat dry, some are curled. I’ve put fertilizer nuggets (biogold original) in the soil but no matter what we do it doesn’t seem to get any better. The he tree is wintered indoors under a grow lamp. Any thoughts? Thanks, Sam<personal data hidden>

Expert Response

The top of the plant is missing leaves. Are there any varmints that may be eathing them? Have you inspected the leaves for any insects? Use a magnifying glass to catch any tiny ones. The following web pages mention drainage. With all the rain we have been having, is the container draining well, as in the hole on the bottom is not plugged? It also mentioned using a high nitrogen fertilizer and soil pH.
