Removing the river birch that beetles like #879454

Asked July 30, 2024, 3:55 PM EDT

Hi- my river birch is two years old and seems to be the item in my yard where the beetles come. There are probably 30-40 a day on the birch which I try to pick off. They go to other plants here and there. I’m thinking about getting rid of this tree to stop having candy for the beetles. Thoughts?

Japanese Beetles are not picky and they will eat almost anything. They also move around and may not be back to your yard in droves every year.

I would not remove a tree in the hopes of not inviting Japanese Beetles. They are here to stay.make sure that you are not putting out traps because that will attract more beetles to your location.
