Good morning!
There are a few ways to control Japanese beetles but unfortunately fully eradicating them is almost impossible with how prevalent they are in the front range.
One way to control to to take all the adults you see and put them in a soapy bucket of water to kill them. It is labor intensive but can prevent them from laying eggs and will bring down the population next year.
There are a couple products out there that will kill the beetles. These products have a type of bacteria in them called Bt and it will target the Japanese Beetles. BeetleJUS and BeetleGone are two products. With either of these the label is law - make sure to use the proper mixture rate. Using a higher rate does not mean you will kill the beetles faster.
I would not suggest using the pheromone traps that are sold. The Japanese beetle population is so high that this will just attract them to your yard and will increase your population of them in the long run.
Thanks for reaching out!
