For several years I've been puzzled by this growing along with normal raspberry plants. It grows as long individual canes, not bushy. The cane is thin, whitish and the thorns are incredibly sharp. It does not bear fruit.

Thank you for your question. This looks as though it could be another type of raspberry. Do the ones you have currently grow fruit on this year's canes? These are called primocane raspberries. You could have one that is a "floricane" type that produces fruit on two year old canes. You can try leaving it until next summer and see if you have any fruit develop.
If you don't want to manage them differently you can shovel prune the vine out.
