Bees & plant fungus #879394

Asked July 30, 2024, 11:23 AM EDT

My cucumbers have a lot of blooms and tiny cucumbers, but only three cucumbers grew. There is now what looks to be a powdery mildew or fungus. I am not interested in saving the plants, at this point, but will if the bees are not harmed by whatever it is. They seem to like the blooms. I just don’t want to hurt the bees. I don’t mind this being posted if it will help others, but I would like an e-mail answer too please. Thank you.

Expert Response

The plant diseases will not harm the bees. Powdery mildew and downy mildew are two common diseases of cucumbers, but they will not affect the bees.
