I am concerned about swarming bugs in my backyard compost bin. This seems very unnatural. Please advise. I've attached a most recent photo. I've sent previous I think this is the best.

Thank you for using Michigan State University Extension with your composting question. I see from your photo that you have a lot of sow or pill bugs. These tiny crustaceans are not really bugs and are decomposers. They only eat dead and decaying organic matter.
They are normal and expected to be seen in a healthy compost pile.
