Help identifying Spider #879341

Asked July 29, 2024, 9:04 PM EDT

Can you please help me identify a bug/spider that just bit me three times before I got it off of me? I took a picture on my phone. The bites were extremely painful, and I don’t know whether I should be alarmed or not. It probably got on me either when I was picking overhead plums from our tree. Is there some way I could send you my pictures? Thanks

image0.jpegimage1.jpegimage2.jpegimage3.jpegHere are the photos. The 3 red marks from the bites are more inflamed today, and I’m wondering whether I need to go see to a doctor. The bites/stings occurred yesterday afternoon.
I put some Bacitracin Zinc ointment on them earlier today.
Thanks.

Hi Rose,
I cannot tell exactly what that is from your photos. If you would like me to identify it, you could bring or send it to us at the OSU Plant Clinic. Here is a link where you can find instructions about how to submit a sample.

If the symptoms from the bites are not diminishing, you could call your doctor's office and see what they would recommend. I don't have any medical training, so I don't know what the best treatment would be.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks for your help. It wasn’t a very clear photo at all, and we disposed of the specimen. So if it gets worse instead of better I’ll go to a doctor. But I do appreciate your reply.
