Climbing roses on the north side #879210

Asked July 29, 2024, 10:39 AM EDT

Our family is looking for roses that are best suited on the north side of the house. We do have a lot of deer. Would you be able to give me some guidance of possible Fridays? Thank you so much Keith (Removed contact info for privacy in this public database)

Expert Response

Hello Keith -
I'm sorry to tell you, but the north side of a house is the worst possible side to try to grow roses.  Roses need at least 6 hours of bright light a day to grow properly.  I am including a link that will give you some information about the different roses that should be helpful to you.

Also, remember your zone and if you decide to buy a rose, be sure it's hardy in your growing zone, which is 5a, 5b, or 6a for Manistee county.
I hope this helps.
