Hello Keith -
I'm sorry to tell you, but the north side of a house is the worst possible side to try to grow roses. Roses need at least 6 hours of bright light a day to grow properly. I am including a link that will give you some information about the different roses that should be helpful to you.

Also, remember your zone and if you decide to buy a rose, be sure it's hardy in your growing zone, which is 5a, 5b, or 6a for Manistee county.
I hope this helps.
