Fungus in my hostas #879181
Asked July 29, 2024, 9:15 AM EDT
I have a row of hostas along my garage that appear to be being killed by a fungus. Is the fungus the cause of the loss of hostas or might it be something else and the fungus is just feeding on the dead plants? I lost one plant last year and now 2/3 of the row appears infected. How do I stop the spread to my hosta garden at the end of the row?
Thank you.

Expert Response
We can't tell why the hostas are dying by viewing the photo.
Sharp photos of affected plants as a whole as well as closeups of dead and dying portions are needed to help us understand what's happening.
We can't identify the white mass in the center of the photo you submitted because the photo lacks detail. What we can see resembles a coral mushroom.
