Hi there. I live in the central part of the county. In my backyard stands a silver maple that is probably at least 100 years old. I bought this house in 2020 so i could live under this tree. i had limbs cut back, to help her new growth. The tree seemed to be doing well. But this summer, barely half the crown flowered, and half the leaves that did show came down in the heat of June. What more can I do to extend the life of this beautiful tree?

i also have a silver maple at that age. One thing is i decided not to have it pruned. Pruning the canopy will eventually kill the tree. Silver maples should not have the top pruned. I have watched others having there trees pruned at the top and they all had soft growth and collapsed. From what you described i cannot give you good news. You could contact a local arborist for more advice.
Thank you for the response.
