Maple tree being attacked #879108

I have one maple tree on my property that is being attacked by something. There is white foam coming out of the bark in several places up and down the trunk. see attached photos. Can you tell me what is attacking the tree and best treatment.

Thanks for the interesting question about the white foaming substance. By looking at your pictures the substance looks to be Slime Fux disease. It generally comes from an injured or damage or improperly pruned tree. The tree should recover in most cases. This is bacterial infection Wetwood bacteria, including Clostridium, Bacillus, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, and Pseudomona are not tree pathogens. The alkaline bacterial infection inhibits wood-rotting fungi like Armillaria. There is no known treatment or control.
